We got a surprise visit from Kari and our favorite nephew this afternoon. While Kari and I put the world to rights and discussed the finer points of current events namely the upcoming release of the Harry Potter book, Leia contentedly held on to her cousin. He's such a sweetie and Leia agrees as you can see.

There's nothing like a daughter to help you get out all those girly impulses. This time it was Leia's idea to make her hair all wavy. Since it was church in the morning, I agreed to spend the good 15 minutes it takes to put in all those fiddly plaits. She now thinks she looks absolutely beautiful, and who would disagree???

Backyard treasures

Today a birds nest fell from the cedar by the back patio. For my six and four year old, it was a very exciting event! I put the kids in the wildflowers for the shot so our family can see how they are coming along. I really really love the wildflowers. And so far the kids have left them alone. That is some kind of miracle!

Swimming, swimming, and more swimming!

When I signed Leia and Spencer up for swimming lessons 4 times a week I didn't give it much thought. Thankfully they absolutely love it 'cos I feel like I am spending my life right now at the YMCA pool. Sunday afternoon down time!

This is one of Gary's favorite things to do with Nathan. He's such a snuggly baby and will quite happily cuddle with Daddy on the couch. Neither Spencer or Leia have been this cuddly.
